Lindsay Lohan: Yet Another Celebrity Above the Law

Three men filed a law suit against Lindsey Lohan, alleging that she commandeered the SUV they were in to chase her former assistant through the streets of Santa Monica in 2007. She was under the influence of alcohol and in possession of cocaine.

Lohan was verbally abusive and extremely aggressive to the men during the chase. They pleaded with her to slow down, as she was putting their lives at risk.

According to People magazine, the lawsuit states, " . . . Lohan refused to slow or stop, but instead responded with abusive cursing and vulgar language, including a statement that she did not care about the risk of death.

"She also stated that because she was a celebrity she could do whatever she wants." This same mentality of so many celebrities is what prompted my response.

The chase ended with the (then) recently fired assistant's mother called the police. Lohan was arrested and later pled guilty to DUI and possession of cocaine. She spent a whole 84 minutes in doing her "time," and was released to rehab.

Lohan's attorney, Ed McPherson, deemed the lawsuit "absurd," stating that the plaintiffs had "ample opportunity to get out of the car." One has to love the whole "glove doesn't fit" defense . . . not his little angel.

I say, "More power to them!" Celebrities get away with way too much, and they always will. Unless someone, such as these not-so-well-known people, stands up for the every day "Joe" and fights against this lack of justice, the famous will always prevail.

84 minutes in jail?!? COME ON! If she was one of us, she would have received double counts of possession of an illegal drug, DUI, public intoxication, harassment, reckless endangerment, grand theft auto, kidnapping, etc., bringing at least 25 to 50 years imprisonment, if not more.

To say that these people just wanted to get their names in the headlines is absurd! I'd file suit, too, if my vehicle was taken against my will and I was force to ride shotgun to a mad woman!

How did they have any given opportunity to get out if she was hurling through the streets of Santa Monica? Does her lawyer's "ample opportunity" to exit the vehicle mean that they could open the door at 55 mph to get away? Why should they have to abandon the their own vehicle to let some callous celebrity do what she pleases to it?

Celebrities need to know they cannot get away with murder, as "you know who" almost did. I, for one, am very happy to learn that these every day citizens refuse to back down.

Reporting sources have not revealed all details concerning the event, as the case is in process, so we do not actually 'know' both sides of the story. This article was written based on articles reported thus far - the statements taken from the law suit itself, the plaintiffs, and Lohan's attorney.

It seems pretty obvious she has some mental issues. She really needs to get in trouble instead of just getting a slap on the wrist every time. That might influence her to get some real help.
